times… come on.
Reflecting on International Women’s Day.
The 8th of March was a very special day here in Dynamo – in particular because our Client Services Director, Charlotte Barker was awarded the IAPI Doyenne Award for 2017. To say it was well-deserved is an understatement – she’s a natural leader with the nous and know how to back it up – but we would say that!
On a serious note, the Doyenne Award really is something special and highlights the huge contribution women make to the creative industry in Ireland – reinforcing the need for equality, fairness and recognition across the board.
The world is changing at a rapid pace, and the fact of the matter is that organisations need to adapt their workplaces and practices to allow people to grow and thrive in their careers – it’s no longer a man’s world, so we need to make changes that bring out the best in both men and women.
Sometimes that might not seem like the easiest business decision to make – be it flexible working hours, or the ability to work from home – but we can attest to the fact that people who are working in a way that works for them, will deliver more than those who feel like they are swimming upstream trying to work in a way that doesn’t suit them.
For us, International Women’s Day is not only a great day to celebrate women and to push for a better, more inclusive workplace but a time to look at our own practices and think about things we can do today that will drive that change. As an agency, it has become a core focus in the last two years, and we intend to keep that momentum in the coming years. After-all, the creative industry in Ireland is one of the best in the world – let’s make it even better by making it an equal one.
