The Aim
When online-only retailer The Book Depository left the Irish market, Eason saw an opportunity to introduce itself to a whole new legion of bookworms. Despite being an institution of Irish culture and a beloved store, people incorrectly perceived that Eason couldn’t match Amazon or The Book Depository in terms of range, price and speed of delivery. Our job was to show them just how wrong they were.

The Game
People regard Eason as the home of great storytelling. But it seems they didn’t know the most important one – our free 24-hour delivery, cheaper titles and massive range. This gave us our campaign idea – A Story Worth Telling. We dramatised this concept with a full suite of four national radio ads, humorously suggesting that this is one story that can usurp any other. We developed a highly-crafted falling book visual world to hold our message, and a bespoke copy design to let our campaign line jump off the page.
The Fame
Our ads featured eight distinct characters and targeted every demographic and every corner of the country not only in their media but in the creative, meaning we reached every one we needed to up and down the country. Our visual expression ran in every format digitally and socially, as well as appearing in posters in-store. Some say we’ve even brought cuban heels and ponytails back into fashion, but we won’t claim that just yet.
